Founder Statement

I always joke that I “accidentally” started a theatre company. I just didn’t feel there were enough opportunities for us, as queer people, to play characters we identify with. I read a lot of plays, and I often cast them in my head with actors I know. In June of 2023, my friend Jon and I put on a reading of a very gay Robert Chesley play, and I got feedback that we should keep going. I started hosting monthly readings of queer plays by icons such as Robert Patrick, Tennessee Williams, David Drake, Harvey Fierstein, and more. We kept growing, and it bloomed into this little community where we get to introduce actors and audiences to forgotten or under-served playwrights and plays, many of them first produced at small theaters in downtown NYC. Our most recent season, themed “Queer Through the Years" spanned plays written from 1958 to 2026. I’m proud of the work that we're doing to be inclusive in our casting and give more opportunities to queer folks to come together and create theatre.
